Camp Sew & Sew at Zephyr Point

LOCATION: Zephyr Point Presbyterian Conference Center
DATE:  March 29 – April 3 (Sun-Fri), 2020

Join us at our annual sewing retreat. We’ll again have that beautiful room, Inspiration Point, that looks out over the lake with huge windows, so join us for some fun and finish your various projects. The price has increased this year by $50, BUT we’re offering a means to earn a $100 rebate (sent after the retreat) if you will complete 25 items for our community service (stockings or ditty bags) effort. The details and instructions will be available later, but right now we have the registration form HERE. Fees increase after Feb 1, 2020 (for example from $475 to $500 for members for 5 days, 4 night stay with meals). We are trying to encourage other chapters to participate but will limit our total to 24 participants. Sign up early; payment guarantees you’re IN for the event (all payments are due by Feb 1 postmark).

As before, we’ll be setting up the Inspiration workroom from 3pm onwards. We’ll have all the keys to rooms available after 3pm on Sunday. Our first meal will be Sunday dinner (6pm) and end with Friday breakfast. We must exit our rooms by 11am and the workroom by noon on Friday.

For those wishing to receive a $100 rebate, you need to make 25 items for our military community service. There are 2 types of items to make: ditty bag (square) or Christmas stocking. There sewing and serging instructions for the ditty bag, but just the serging instructions for the stocking (the assembly differs with sewing since there’s an inside seam, so we recommend using the serger). Below are links to the instructions (click on the item). We will provide the drawstring and toggle at Camp for you to finish your ditty bags. We will inspect the items to ensure they meet our standards.

Garage Sale – Sat & Sun, Jun 27-28, 2020

Posted by on 10-10-19 in Events | Comments Off

Annual Garage Sale

Location: 1365 Greenbrae Dr, Sparks
Date: Sat-Sun, Jun 27-28, 2020
Time: 8:00am to 2:00pm (each day)

Wonderful fabrics! Notions! Magazines! Patterns! A sewists mecca. Come one! Come All! Spread the word! This is always a popular event with many waiting for it to start and, hopefully, the extra day on Sunday will allow us to sell more (and have less to return to storage)!

Verla has again agreed to be host for this year’s Garage Sale. Several of us have already weeded out the fabric and measured them, so this year is all about setting up the tables and unboxing stuff (and, yes, we’ve tried to get heavy items into smaller boxes to give us all a break). We’ll also need some help to set up and tear down the displays as well as be there to help sell off all the goodies.

AND, we’re always looking for helpers on Friday and Sunday. We may have schleppers for the work of loading/unloading the truck, so you are needed to sort and organize all of the stuff they are bringing over (Fri). On Saturday and Sunday, we need early birds (7:45am) to get ready for the browsers/buyers and late Sunday (e.g. 1-2pm) we’ll need folks to help with packing all that will return to the storage unit. We do plan on weeding out books and patterns so less of those items will be returning to the storage unit.

August 28-29, 2020 – Swing Tunic and other flowing tee shirts

Posted by on 10-10-19 in Events | Comments Off

Fashions by Pamela Leggett

Dates: Friday, Aug 28, 2020, from 6:00pm to 8:30pm [Trunk Show]
Saturday, Aug 29, 2020, from 8:30am to 5:00pm [Workshop]
FEE: $10 for Trunk show, $75 for workshop, $15 fee for non-members
TOTALS: $85 for ASG members; $100 for non-members
CLASS SIZE: limited to 15

Swing Tunic with optional Peek-a-boo Shoulder (hands-on workshop)

This adaptation of the popular cold shoulder style is thoughtfully designed with the modest woman in mind. Pamela makes it appropriate by creating a scaled down version that shows just a “peek” of shoulder and covers any bra strap. If this isn’t your style, choose the classic shoulder option – the choice is yours! The swing-y tunic shape shows off an “essence-of-waist” and hides a lot of fluff. There are multiple sleeve length options including a flattering elbow length and a bohemian style “fit & flare”. Choose a modified or lower scoop neckline, or the stunning asymmetric style. Very chic!
